Explorers
62nd Explorers at Newtownbreda is open to anyone, both male and female from age 14 to age 18. There is no need for any previous experience or background in Scouting or Guiding.
Meetings are held every 2 weeks on a Friday evening within the Halls complex. Meetings commence at 7:30pm – 9.30pm. We try to have one activity away from the hall once a month, whether a night game, a hike or a camp.
The emphasis in the Explorer Scout programme is on fun, challenge, service and adventure. Explorer Scouts have a lot of input into choosing and planning the activities in their programme, developing planning and leadership skills. Explorer Scouts are encouraged to work towards their Scout’s Awards and completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards; in support of this, we offer the Young Leaders Award which allows Explorers to volunteer within our younger sections to maximise the key skills and experiences through working with others.
