The Eco-Committee meets every few months and reports to the Congregational Committee. It has 7 members. Since Newtownbreda PC was granted an Eco-Congregation Award in November 2018, the Eco-Committee has continued to manage matters related to sustaining our church’s status as an Eco-Congregation. We consider how to reduce the church’s environmental footprint and improve sustainability by:
- developing and implementing practical responses to the stewardship of the Earth’s scarce resources by recycling as much as is practical of the waste generated on our premises;
- encouraging eco awareness and good practice in the congregation, e.g. in energy consumption and the use of cleaning materials;
- building on existing good practice where possible, e.g. in the care of the church grounds and the use of the allotments.
The Eco-Committee has responsibility for dealing with the church’s recycling & composting waste and has a rota for the collection of these materials.
