ANNOUNCEMENTS

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Lilias Wallace, better known to her friends as Wally. There will be a private thanksgiving service for Lilias at the church on Monday morning. Please keep her nephew Gordon, his wife Ruth and the wider circle of family and friends in your prayers.

HARVEST – thank you everyone for your generous contributions towards the decorating of the church for Harvest. The church looks well, special thanks to the decorators and helpers on Saturday as well as those who provided the necessary cuppa— many thanks.

Volunteers are needed today to facilitate the distribution of the gifts to Nursing Homes, the housebound and others. After the morning service please go across for coffee or tea after which you can deliver the gifts. They will be greatly appreciated by the members of the congregation who receive them. Thanks again.

PW will be up and running again on Monday, 14 October at 7:45 pm. We look forward to seeing everyone who has been at PW already and to welcome any other ladies of any age in the congregation, and their friends to join us. Our first evening will be a fun night of sushi making with Don.

KIRK SESSION meeting 16 October at 7.30 pm in the Megaw Room. PLEASE NOTE this is a change of date.

The ENGLISH PROJECT is making a request for any DVD players which are lurking in your cupboards no longer in use. We have been kindly gifted some DVDs which we believe will be helpful for our learners so they can watch English movies at home. Please contact Janet at janrobo@hotmail.com or speak to her at Church coffee if you can help.

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL 2024

Shoebox time again! Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for you to bless children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, personal care items, school supplies, and fun gifts.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. One box can touch not only just the child, but their whole family too.

Pre-printed shoeboxes, together with leaflets giving advice on what to put into your shoebox, will be available from the Church foyer or from the Rosetta Hall after church throughout October. Please leave filled boxes in the Church Foyer or Office before Sunday 3 November.

Alternatively you can prepare a box online. It remains the most efficient way to donate and allows you to discover where your shoebox goes to by including a barcode in your shoebox gift. This can be done by scanning the QR code on the “How to Pack a SHOEBOX” leaflet or visiting Samaritan’s Purse website at https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/SBO

Remember do not include sweets, toothpaste, liquids/lotions that continue to be inappropriate. Sunglasses, flip-flops, socks, t-shirts, books and handmade toys can now be packed.

For further information please contact Johanna Shields ( 07837 228335 or email: jomaybe@hotmail.com

PW Christmas Concert – 13 December PW present a very seasonal treat in the form of a concert with Ruth Jennings and friends.

The proceeds from this will go to help PW’s Special Home Project which will come alongside the amazing work of Prison Fellowship Northern Ireland (PFNI), a Christian ministry responding to the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of prisoners.  Presbyterian Women is hoping to raise £10,000 this year to help PFNI develop its work among women as they are released from prison.
