19th Belfast Brownies

Our Brownie Unit meets Wednesday evenings in the Megaw Room, Newtownbreda Presbyterian Church Halls.
We run from September to June time 6:30p.m. -  8:00 p.m. It is for girls aged seven to ten years old.

We run a varied and balanced programme, with emphasis on fun and friendship. We work around the five essentials in Girlguiding.

     1.  Brownies work together in small groups [sixes]

     2.  Brownies are encouraged to govern themselves [Pow Wow]

     3.  Brownies have a balanced and varied programme [Brownie Adventure Book]

     4.  Brownies care for the individual

     5.  Brownies share a commitment to a common standard [Promise and Law]

We are part of a worldwide organisation for girls.

In our unit we follow the Brownie Adventure Book in our programme. Brownie Interest Badges are very popular with the girls, they can pick a badge to do what interests them and work on their own or in with a group of girls to gain a badge.

Games are top priority in the unit, as a way of using energy and having fun together.  Over the year we cover a wide variety of games which keeps the interest going. We also have games from other countries and games with a point to challenge them.

We cover Arts and Crafts, Drama, Dance, Singing and Quizzes and much more. The girls give their input each week through our Pow Wow's. Some organise the entire evening as part of badge work.

We have Themed evenings, outings and visiting speakers also during the year.

Our adult leaders are fully trained under Girlguiding.

Over recent years we have had to operate a waiting list and are still doing so. If you have a girl interested to join contact us via Email: brownies19th@hotmail.co.uk  We can then advise when we have an available place.
